An elephant's diet is pretty basic because they are herbivores. They only consume plants and leaves. That would get pretty boring to eat all the time! Elephants spend most of the day eating food, which results to eating 300 pounds of food a day. That is an astonishing amount of plants and leaves! They also only digest 44 percent of the food that they eat. Did you know that elephants migrate 7,500 square miles each year to find food and water. Elephants don’t just eat leaves and plants they also eat fruits,seeds,branches,tree bark, and grass. Also, elephants have 26 teeth to help them eat food for 22 hours. It’s crazy that elephants only eat the leaves at the top of the trees. That are only some facts about the elephants diet.
